Brunswick Foundation Celebrates 50th Anniversary; Increases Dollar Amount Awarded to Foundation Scholarship Winners

LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 30, 2007 – Since 1957, the Brunswick Foundation has sought to enhance the interests of Brunswick Corporation employees and the communities in which they live and work, as well as support causes and projects that complement the business interests of the company.

This year, the organization celebrates its 50th anniversary.

In celebration of its anniversary, the Brunswick Foundation has increased the dollar amount for scholarships awarded through the Sons and Daughters Scholarship Program by 25 percent. Beginning this year, the Foundation will award 50 multi-year scholarships, which provide $2,500 per school year until completion of studies ($10,000 maximum) and 50 single-year $2,500 scholarships.

Since its inception, the Brunswick Foundation has awarded nearly $8 million in scholarships to qualified children of Brunswick Corporation employees.

A not-for-profit organization funded through contributions from Brunswick Corporation, the Brunswick Foundation oversees three primary programs:

  • The Sons & Daughters Scholarship Program, through which the Foundation awards single-year and multi-year college scholarships to children of Brunswick Corporation employees who meet program criteria;
  • The Dollars for Doers Program, which recognizes the volunteer efforts of Brunswick Corporation employees by issuing grants to not-for-profit organizations for which an individual employee or group of employees has completed volunteer work, such as serving on a board of directors for an organization or participating in a fundraising event; and
  • The Brunswick Foundation Grant Program, which awards direct donations to not-for-profit organizations that support environmental and conservation causes related to the marine, fitness, bowling or billiards industries, and better the communities in which our employees live and work.

“The Brunswick Foundation is honored to support the interests of Brunswick Corporation employees, their children and charitable organizations associated with the industries in which Brunswick Corporation participates,” said Adrian W. Sakowicz, president of the Brunswick Foundation and Brunswick's vice president – community relations and corporate marketing alliances. “It is truly a privilege to help others pursue their goals, especially when their work improves individuals and the communities in which they live, work and operate.” Brunswick Foundation
