Baja Marine Introduces the 278 Performance for 2008
BUCYRUS, Ohio (September 20, 2007) - Baja Marine introduces the brand new 278 Performance for 2008. This dynamic mid-sized model will replace the 275 Performance in Baja's full-throttle lineup. The 278 Performance boasts the signature power and style of the Performance line with new innovations. Continuing Baja's ongoing commitment to create versatile models for its leading lineup, the 278 Performance joins the recently introduced 247 Islander and 335 Performance.
The 278 Performance unites the latest in technology and style, while delivering signature Baja power. Baja's design team incorporated the hull of the award-winning 277 Islander into the 278 Performance, utilizing the precision of Islander's open bow design in the 278's cuddy layout. Part agile runner, part weekender, the 278 lets you play as hard and as long as you want. "It's like having two boats in one," said J.R. Jenney, Baja's director of sales. "You can stay out on the water all day with friends and family and overnight comfortably. The 278 Performance can run with larger boats, but it can also go some places they can't."
Creative features that marry form and function are found throughout the model, including sporty rear vents with stainless steel mesh cutouts specially crafted by Baja's design team. "These are such a great addition to the boat," said Jenney. "They're a striking new feature that adds to the incredible overall design." Baja owners can customize the look of the 278 Performance by choosing the standard windshield or a new windscreen option for a sleeker line. And the aggressive lines of the 278's flat deck and hatches lend the boat an even more dramatic presence. State-of-the-art technology like Baja's stringer liner system ensures that the boat can withstand the toughest conditions.
Usability-enhancing features also abound on the 278 Performance. A larger cabin with additional storage space allows for extending day trips into overnight trips and for bringing additional passengers onboard. The boat's interior space is maximized with a molded-in speaker pod and storage shelf tucked behind the cuddy seating. Forward facing seating and a generous V-berth mean you can rest comfortably when you need a break from the action. And the optional expanded swim platform provides more room to take a swim.
