Brunswick Latin America Group, Mercury Marine Offer Boats, Engines to Aid Mexican Flood Relief
MONTERREY, Mexico, Nov. 5, 2007 – Brunswick Latin America Group (BLAG) and Mercury Marine, both units of Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC), today announced they are making five rigid inflatable boats with Mercury outboard engines available to Mexican authorities to help with rescue and recovery efforts in the State of Tabasco.
News reports claim that at least 500,000 people already are homeless and one person has died as the result of massive flooding cause by days of heavy rain. The state capital of Villahermosa, home to nearly half a million people, has been particularly hard hit.
“It is times like these when the community must come together to aid those who find their lives and livelihood threatened,” explained William J. Gress, president of the Brunswick Latin America Group. “We reached out to our sister company, Mercury Marine, and they responded. Now, together, we reach out to the Tabasco community.”
