Albemarle To Debut The 288 Outboard Express Fisherman Model at Miami International Boat Show
EDENTON, N.C., Feb. 7, 2008 – Albemarle Boats, the leading manufacturer of high-end offshore fishing boats, is set to debut its newest model, the 288 Outboard Express Fisherman (OBXF) at the Miami International Boat Show next week.

“For years we've been hearing our customers say that they would love to see an Albemarle with outboard motors,” says Burch Perry, vice president and general manager at Albemarle. “The new 288 OBXF offers the same soft, dry ride, with the efficiency and performance of twin Mercury Verado engines. Our management team took a departure from our traditional model offerings, in terms of design, construction, and power, and thus far we are thrilled with the result.”

Powered by twin 300 HP Mercury Verado engines and carrying 230 gallons of fuel, the 288 OBXF boasts a 30-plus knot cruise and over 300 miles of range. This performance, along with a modern cherry wood trimmed interior, a well-equipped galley and a separate “stand-up” head, give the 288 OBXF all the amenities needed in an under 30-foot class express boat!

A massive 60-square-foot cockpit with dual transom livewells, ample tackle storage, drink box, and two 55 gallon in-deck fishboxes, make the 288 the ultimate offshore outboard boat on the market. The helm deck has comfortable seating for four and can be raised to unveil a huge multi-functional storage compartment.

“By combining all the amenities of a fishing boat with the comforts of a family cruiser, we feel we have created the sport utility vehicle of the boating industry,” states Albemarle Director of Sales and Marketing, Chris Lufkin. “We've kept this project under pretty tight lip because we wanted to tweak the performance and handling before introducing it to the public; but once we were able to run it, we knew we had to push to get it to Miami and show the world what it's all about! A top speed of over 45 knots gives this boat an appeal different than that of any other model we have ever built.”

Albemarle's fourth new model in the last two years is indicative of the approach it has taken in this challenging boating market. “New product is a vital part of attracting new customers and keeping our existing ones,” commented Lufkin, “We feel this boat incorporates all the requirements that today's customer demands.”
