Lloyd's Inland Marine Thrives Under Continued Family Ownership
BUCYRUS, Ohio (March 04, 2008) - Baja Marine is pleased to announce that Angela and Carol Burns, daughter and widow of Lloyd Burns, the original owner of Lloyd's Inland Marine, have become new co-owners of the longstanding Baja dealership. Lloyd's Inland Marine is also proud to announce its continued success under the new leadership team.
Lloyd Burns was Baja Marine's longest-serving dealer and a much-beloved fixture in the Baja community. He worked as a Baja dealer for more than 35 years. In 1981, he founded Lloyd's Inland Marine in Evansville, Ind. He was often praised over the years for his accomplishments as a dealer, and in September 2006, he earned Baja Marine's Sales Achievement Award. Himself a boat-racing enthusiast, Burns died in April 2007 after his drag boat crashed on Kentucky Lake near Grand Rivers, Ky.
Following Burns' passing and subsequent doubt regarding the store's future, Angela and Carol Burns took over operations and then recently became co-owners of Lloyd's. "We did not want it to close," said Angela Burns. "The boating community has been so supportive of us. They've done absolutely everything to make sure we'd stay in business."
