Sea Ray Tellico Receives Perfect Score from National Marine Manufacturing Association Inspection
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – May 28, 2008 – Sea Ray Boats' Tellico Lake facility hit a high mark recently when it achieved a perfect score from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) during a comprehensive inspection. The routine audit was conducted as part of the NMMA Certification program, which covers more than 30 categories of standards set by the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC).
“We are delighted to announce that the NMMA audit resulted in zero negative findings, meaning the Tellico plant and its products are 100-percent compliant with the best practices, safety, and quality points required by the program,” says Craig Laboranti, director of quality for Sea Ray. “This is a major achievement and is a testament to the superior quality product that Sea Ray manufactures.”
All boats sold in the U.S. must meet US Coast Guard (USCG) minimum regulations. NMMA Certified boats must also meet the more stringent requirements of the ABYC. These standards cover additional systems and components — more than 30 categories of standards in all, which vary by boat type and size and may include: fuel systems, ventilation, passenger and weight capacity, horsepower capacity, flotation, electrical systems, navigation lights, warning label placement, and steering systems.
NMMA Certified boats must also undergo independent inspection to ensure that all applicable standards are met; the result is a thoroughly examined, high-quality boat for owners and their passengers to enjoy without worry.
