X-haust Noise Reducer Kits Released
FOND DU LAC, Wis., Oct 8, 2008 – Mercury Racing is pleased to announce the fuel requirements for the 600 SCi sterndrive engine package have changed from 91 posted octane (R + M)/2 (98 RON), to a new minimum posted octane requirement of 87 (R+M)/2, (91 RON). The change affects both current and late model 600 SCi sterndrive engine packages. Mercury Racing engineering made the fuel requirement change after reviewing over two years of engine run data which validates that the difference in fuel grade does not adversely affect engine life, power or performance. The only measurable change consumers will notice is a savings at the pump.
X-haust Noise Reducer
Also, Mercury Racing X-haust Noise Reducer kits are now available. The integrated sterndrive exhaust noise reduction system was developed primarily to bring the 600 SCi and EU662 SCi engine packages, already certified by the European Union Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) requirements for exhaust emissions, in compliance with the stringent RCD noise regulations.
X-haust is available in two configurations. Stage 2 is the complete system, that with transom mounted mufflers, is capable of compliance with the EU RCD. Stage 1, designed to satisfy most noise regulations outside of the EU, eliminates the transom mounted mufflers. The location of the exhaust outlets, underwater when off-plane and near the water surface when operating on-plane, is the same for both configurations.
