CMD releases Light Duty Commercial rating on QSD sterndrive
Cummins Mercruiser Diesel (CMD) has developed a Light Commercial (LC) diesel rating to be used in applications which are certified to EPA Tier 2 emissions levels.
Effective immediately, the LC diesel rating will cover 500-or-less annual operating hours or two years, whichever comes first.
The LC rating is being released for QSD 2.8 220hp and QSD 4.2 320hp engines.
The LC rating is intended for revenue generating or some government service propulsion applications.
This is a rating for use in variable-load, planing-hull applications where full power is limited to one hour out of every eight hours of operation. Reduced power must be at-or-below cruise speed.
In consultation with CMD product application engineers and dealers, the following applications may be considered under the LC rating:
- Patrol boats
- Rescue boats
- Assault boats
- Dinner cruise boats
- House boat rentals
- Runabout rentals
