CMD ReCon Brings Affordable Marine Repower Options to Europe and Beyond
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Cummins MerCruiser Diesel ReCon® is bringing its rock-solid lineup of factory reconditioned marine engines to Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
CMD ReCon’s 20-plus engine configurations have been available to CMD distributors to order for some time. But beginning in the fourth quarter of 2009, three of its most popular models will be kept in stock at a Cummins distribution center in Belgium, giving EMEA dealers and consumers with acute needs the ability to get boats repowered and back on the water faster and more affordably than with virtually any other engine repower solution.
Inaugural stocking will include three venerable CMD engines: 6CTA 430 bhp@2,600 rpm, 6BTA 315 bhp@2,800 rpm and 6BT 210 bhp@2,600 rpm. All are rated for Intermittent* and High Output duty cycles to fit a wide variety of commercial and recreational applications. All three are also International Maritime Organization-emissions-certified by both the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and they are certified to the Recreational Craft Directive. In fact, most CMD ReCon engines are IMO- and RCD-certified, making them some of the most environmentally friendly mechanical diesels on the water. More engine models – such as the 6BTA 370 bhp, QSM11 660 bhp or 4B 150 bhp – may be stocked in Europe as market demand dictates.
For years, CMD ReCon has been repowering boats in North America; in fact, CMD ReCon is far and away the market leader in its class for that region for engine replacements. Now, CMD is bringing its proven lineup to the Mediterranean, the North Sea and anywhere else in EMEA that time-tested boats need new life – no matter what brand of engines is in them today.
CMD ReCon engines are built from remanufactured core parts, augmented by genuine new CMD content. Cores are disassembled down to the last nut and bolt, and each component is thoroughly cleaned, reconditioned and inspected before being put back into a CMD ReCon package. The price is below any comparable new engine – often competitive with a shop rebuild – and it delivers outstanding durability, backed by a warranty package that rivals any other in the market. Plus, with popular engines in stock, choosing CMD ReCon is often fastest way to get a boat repowered and back to doing what it was designed to do.

* The 6CTA 430 bhp@2,600 rpm engine Intermittent Rating carries duty cycle restrictions. See your CMD dealer or distributor for details.
