Brunswick Boat Group Adds Diversified Marine Products, Expands Parts and Accessories Distribution Coverage
KNOXVILLE, Tenn., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The Brunswick Boat Group (BBG)
announced today that it has acquired Diversified Marine Products, the largest
marine supply distributor on the West Coast. Based in Los Angeles,
Diversified Marine will join with Land 'N' Sea, Kellogg Marine and Benrock to
extend the largest distribution network of marine parts and accessories in
North America, resulting in approximately 90 percent of coverage in the U.S.
Diversified Marine will be part of the Boat Group's Parts & Accessories (P&A)
operations. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"This transaction is a continuation and extension of our key strategic
initiative -- to offer same-day and next-day delivery throughout the U.S. and
Canada," explained Randy Gray, president of the BBG P&A business.
"Diversified Marine will complement our P&A distribution network, allowing us
to extend second-to-none service to Brunswick boat dealers as well as
thousands of independent dealers and repair shops in North America."
The BBG P&A business was started in 2003 with the acquisition of Land 'N'
Sea. Since then, the BBG has added new facilities and purchased Attwood
Marine, a supplier of marine accessories, along with Benrock and Kellogg
Marine, two leading marine wholesale distributors. Today, the BBG P&A
operations have 17 marine wholesale distribution centers throughout North
America, including Diversified Marine's facilities.
"Brunswick's dedication to improving the boating experience in general,
and providing world-class service and delivery in particular, is in line with
our core business values," said Daniel M. Solomon, managing partner of
Diversified Marine Products. "With the support of the Brunswick Boat Group,
we will have access to more resources to do what we do best -- offer our more
than 2,000 customers in ten states an incomparable level of service, value and
breadth of product offering."
With approximately 80 employees and more than 200 suppliers, Diversified
Marine operates three distribution facilities in Los Angeles and Sacramento,
Calif.; and Spokane, Wash. Solomon will join Brunswick and continue to direct
Diversified Marine operations.
"With 17 distribution centers throughout North America, the BBG P&A
business now offers same-day and next-day delivery to roughly 90 percent of
the marine dealers and repair shops in the U.S., and we have every intention
to continue to extend our rapid-delivery capabilities to the entire network
over time," Gray added.
