Boston Whaler Previews Its Largest Outboard Boat Ever
EDGEWATER, Fla., Feb. 15, 2007- Often thought of as the premier small boat manufacturer, Boston Whaler® continues to expand its product offering into bigger and bigger boats, and during the Miami International Boat Show, Whaler® announced its biggest Unibond® outboard Whaler yet – the new 345 Conquest®.
Set to begin production the summer of 2007, Boston Whaler's 345 Conquest is configured for deep water fishing, comfortable cruising and dockside socializing. The 345CQ also provides unsinkable boating that only Boston Whaler boats can assure. This spacious cabin boat boasts many best in class features that set it apart from other boats in the category, including the 345 CQ's integrated windshield and hard top, center helm design, and island berth. Like all Boston Whalers, the 345CQ is constructed using unsinkable Unibond construction and is backed by a 10-year transferable hull warranty.
This flagship model comes standard with dual 275 CXL DTS Mercury® Verado® FourStroke engines, while triple 250 Verado FourStroke Mercury engines are optional. Engine instrumentation includes the new Mercury SmartCraft Vessel View that provides the operator with engine and vessel information on a bright color LCD display. The center helm is designed for ease of operation and offers a large mounting surface for wide-screen electronics. The driver, along with those seated in the cockpit, can stay cool thanks to the standard cockpit air conditioner. In addition, the integrated windshield and hard top protects those in the cockpit from weather while offering the option of ventilation.
Comfortable cockpit seating abounds. The helm seat is adjustable vertically as well as fore and aft, and it is accompanied by a molded in footrest. The companion seat, with a convenient side-to-side slide for added maneuverability in and out of the helm area, also offers a molded-in footrest as well. The port lounge allows either one boater to sprawl out and relax, or seats multiple people. A hideaway bench provides additional seating when deployed, but can fold away to provide more room when fishing.
Fully rigged and ready to fish, the 345CQ has four gunnel mounted stainless steel rod holders and three rod holders mounted in the transom. Cockpit coaming bolsters provide comfort when reeling in that big catch. The cockpit bait prep and entertainment center doubles as a place to prepare your bait or be use for entertaining later on. Storage for fishing rods abounds thanks to the four under gunnel rod racks along with cabin interior rod racks, which are showcased by recessed lighting and capable of holding up to four rods. Other fishing features include a 40-gallon livewell with raw water fill, light and cutting board, tackle drawers, raw-water washdown, and two in-deck fish boxes with pump-out.
Large enough to comfortably sleep six, the cabin provides all of the comforts of home. The island berth, a stand-out in this product class, is like those found on large yachts and has two spacious drawers located in the base. Additionally, the forward end of the island berth is powered to lift for comfortable, upright reading or easy television viewing. There is a 48-inch x 29-inch cedar lined hanging closet capable of holding foul weather gear or clothing that boaters want to keep wrinkle free. Two reading lights are located in the forward berth, with two more in the mid-berth. By lowering the wood grain galley table, the nearby settee is converted into an additional sleeping space. There is no lack of technology in the cabin thanks to the Sirius® satellite radio receiver, Clarion®
AM/FM stereo with CD player, a premium JL Audio system and 20-inch flat screen TV with DVD player.
The head aboard the 345CQ boasts a solid surface vanity countertop, VacuFlush® toilet with holding tank, dockside pump-out, overboard discharge and tank level indicator. The head is fully ventilated and also has an AC duct. Other features include a hot and cold sink faucet, soap and toothbrush holder, a separate pullout showerhead, full-length mirror, flush mounted modern lighting and a vanity clothes hanger.
A full meal may be cooked with ease due to the numerous galley amenities. There is a standard double burner electric stove and convenient microwave and coffee maker combination unit. There is a deep sink with a hot and cold faucet and a convenient trash receptacle. There is no lack of style as the counter is a solid surface material and the cabinets have a rich wood grain finish.
For an open and airy sitting area, the mid-cabin provides comfortable seating for up to three people. More sleeping space can be found by converting the U-shaped seating in the mid-cabin into a double berth. Throw pillows and a reading light make the mid-cabin cozy, while the privacy curtain completes the transformation from comfy seating to bedroom.
Notable options on the 345CQ include a canvas helm seat cover, a cabin comfort package for the mid berth, cockpit grill, remote spotlight, cockpit table and 12-volt receptacles at transom for electric reels and downriggers. Available electronics packages include the 12-inch electronics/navigation package including a Northstar 8000i with 12-inch touch screen, 1000 watt transducer, VHF Northstar radio, and SmartCraft integration, the 12-inch deluxe electronics/navigation package that includes an Northstar 6 KW open array antenna. Also available is an additional 12-inch dual screen and Northstar NS3300 autopilot.
The 345CQ, like all Boston Whaler models, is rendered unsinkable thanks to its Unibond construction. The Unibond foam is placed between two walls of fiberglass and provides unsurpassed level flotation along with structural support, and sound and vibration absorption. All of this adds up to a guaranteed safe, luxuriously comfortable day out on the water.
