Boston Whaler Receives the Chairman's Safety Award
EDGEWATER, Fla., Feb 13, 2007 – Brunswick's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dustan E. McCoy today presented the local Boston Whaler facility and its employees with the Chairman's Safety Award. On Jan 17, 2007, the facility reached its millionth hour worked without a single lost time injury.
The Brunswick Chairman's Safety Award recognizes Brunswick employees and facilities throughout the company's global operations that achieve safety milestones and promote safety awareness. As part of the award, Brunswick will make a charitable donation on behalf of Boston Whaler in the amount of $10,000 to a local charity selected by a vote of the Boston Whaler employees. Accepting the check on behalf of the selected charity, The Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, was its Chief Executive Officer Fran Davis. An additional award for Boston Whaler employees will be a raffle, scheduled to take place in March, the winner of which will receive a 13-foot Boston Whaler boat.
“There are many factors that contributed to Whaler achieving the million hour mark,” said Chris Carver, Boston Whaler's Environmental Health and Safety Manager. “Several of the key factors were: our STOP (Safety Training Observation Program) initiative, Brunswick's Safety Management System, employee safety suggestions and our safety recognition and communication program.”
“Boston Whaler has made safety one of our top priorities,” said Boston Whaler President John Ward. “This milestone was achieved because every employee made a commitment and was accountable for making this a safe workplace.”
