Burch Perry to Succeed Scotty Harrell in Leading Albemarle Boats
NEW BERN, N.C., Feb. 23, 2007 – Burch Perry, a long-time officer of Albemarle Boats, has been promoted to vice president and general manager, reporting to Mark Harakal, president of the Hatteras Collection. Perry succeeds Scotty Harrell, who has resigned as president of Albemarle Boats to pursue other interests.
“I cannot say enough good things about the way the Harrell family built this business from the ground up,” said Harakal. “Scotty took the reigns from his father in 1990, and during his tenure the company has grown tremendously in both financial success and brand reputation. Perry, who previously served as Albemarle's vice president of sales and marketing, is well known in the boatbuilding industry. A grandson to Scott Harrell Sr., who in 1978 founded Albemarle on the shores of the Albemarle Sound in Edenton, N.C., Perry has led the company's sales and dealership team since joining the brand in 1995. He is also a popular fixture on the East Coast tournament circuit, which he fishes regularly as a member of the Albemarle Fishing Team.
