Brunswick Named Official Equipment Supplier For 2008 and 2009 USBC Open Championships
MUSKEGON, Mich., Nov. 28, 2007 – Brunswick Bowling & Billiards and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) have established a partnership agreement in which Brunswick will provide bowling center equipment and support during the 2008 and 2009 USBC Open Championships. This two-year agreement extends the USBC and Brunswick's relationship as the pinsetter and lanes provider for the USBC Open Championships for six consecutive years, including two years at the National Bowling Stadium in Reno, Nev., which is equipped with Brunswick product. Brunswick also provided and installed equipment in an arena-setting during the 2005 championships in Baton Rouge, La., and 2006 in Corpus Christi, Tex.
The 2008 USBC Open Championship will be held Feb. 18 – June 28 at the Albuquerque (N. M.) Convention Center and the 2009 tournament will be held a similar time frame that year at the Cashman Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
Brunswick will provide and install a total of 60 lanes in an arena setting including GS-X Pinsetters™, Pro Lane™ synthetic lanes, and custom Lanescape™ masking units for the 2008 tournament. The Open Championships will be conducted on 48 lanes, with 12 additional lanes constructed for proposed side events. The 12-lane area will include pinsetters, lanes, masking units, Vector® scoring and management systems, as well as Striking Line™ furniture in the bowlers' area.
In 2009, Brunswick will install 56 lanes of equipment in Las Vegas for the USBC Open Championship.
Brunswick will also provide bowling pins during the entire tournament.
“This tournament is one of the great bowling traditions for competitive bowlers in the world. We are privileged to be selected as the equipment supplier for the 2008 and 2009 USBC tournaments,” said Brent Perrier, president of Brunswick Bowling Products.
“Brunswick has been an integral part of the USBC Open Championships tradition since the event was established as the American Bowling Congress National Championships in 1901," said USBC Chief Operating Officer Kevin Dornberger. "We look forward to continuing our partnership with a company that has always provided first-class bowling equipment for one of the sport's most prestigious events."
The USBC Tournament is the largest participatory sporting event in the world with more than 65,000 bowlers. The prize fund each year is expected to be over $4.5 million.
