Brunswick Acquires Hawthorn Lanes
LAKE FOREST, Ill., (Jan. 23, 2008) – Brunswick Bowling & Billiards has opened the doors to its third bowling center in Lake County making it the company's 18th in Illinois. The company announced that it has purchased Hawthorn Lanes of Vernon Hills from previous owners Bill and Barb Spigner. This is the latest location to join Brunswick's chain of more than 100 bowling and entertainment centers in the United States, Canada and Europe. The center will be updated during the next six months to reflect the Brunswick Zone brand.
To reflect the changing face of bowling, Brunswick Zone - Hawthorn features 40 lanes of smoke-free bowling entertainment for both serious league bowlers as well as casual bowlers. The center offers fun for families, friends, groups and businesses seeking to enjoy everything from children's birthday parties to team-building activities to other special occasions.

Mike Sledz, a 29-year veteran of the bowling industry and former owner of Libertyville Lanes, has been named general manager of the center.
Brunswick Zone - Hawthorn, located at 316 Center Drive, is open seven days a week opening at 9 a.m. and closing at midnight Sunday through Thursday, closing at 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
