Brunswick And Bowling Vision Support World Tenpin Masters And Conduct Lane Maintenance Seminars

MUSKEGON, Mich., May 21, 2008 – Brunswick Bowling and its distributor, Bowling Vision Ltd., Kettering, United Kingdom, recently provided lane maintenance for the prestigious World Tenpin Masters bowling tournament. In addition, a series of lane maintenance seminars taught by Dave DiRito, Brunswick worldwide product training manager, were also held with a great turnout of bowling center technicians throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

The 2008 PartyCasino.com World Tenpin Masters tournament was held April 18-20 at the Barnsley Metrodome in South Yorkshire, England, in front of a large crowd. The tournament consists of 16 of the best men and women bowlers from around the world, competing on one custom-made Brunswick bowling lane with pinsetter, who go head-to-head in a straight knockout format for the $30,000 top prize. The lane was conditioned throughout the tournament and was maintained by the Authority22® system.

Additionally, Brunswick amateur staff member Zara Glover was on hand during the tournament to provide her expertise and guidance displaying the latest bowling gear from Brunswick.

South African bowler, Guy Caminsky, defeated the 2006 champion from the United States, Chris Barnes, in an exciting final that enabled Caminsky to earn the trophy and top prize fund of $30,000. As he accepted his prize, Caminsky thanked Brunswick for the consistent lane conditions the Authority22 provided during the tournament.

All profits from World Tenpin Masters merchandising products will go to the Scott Banks Memorial Fund, a charity organization set up for the avid British bowler who died tragically in June 1998 at the age of 22. Over $2,500 was raised this year for the charity.

Brunswick Bowling donated a high performance ball, Étoile, made exclusively for the Brunswick Euro Challenge held earlier this year in France. The ball will be raffled during a Scott Banks Memorial Bowling Tournament to be held in the United Kingdom in May.

LANE MAINTENANCE SEMINARS

The lane maintenance seminars were held in conjunction with the World Masters Tournament at Selby Bowl ‘n Fun in northern England and at Dunstable Bowl, north of London. A third seminar for Bowlplex technicians was hosted at Bowling Vision in Kettering.

During the seminars, DiRito demonstrated the Authority22 lane machine in order to show different conditioner patterns, while Zara Glover, Brunswick amateur pro staff, demonstrated the effects different oil patterns can have on the shot. The seminars were held to enable bowling center technicians to gain a better understanding of conditioner patterns, lane machine maintenance and how those two aspects work together to impact the bowler's delivery.

Additionally, Brunswick Pro Staff members Diandra Asbaty and Zara Glover conducted very successful Brunswick Coaching Academies at three centers across the United Kindgom on the three days leading up to the tournament in Barnsley. Brunswick Coaching Academies teach the essential fundamentals needed in the correct bowling approach including the correct stance, timing, swing and delivery.
