New Hybrid Entertainment Center Now Open in Houghton, Mich.
MUSKEGON, Mich., June 23, 2008 – The owners of High Fives bowling center in Munising, Mich., have opened a brand-new family entertainment center with indoor and outdoor activities for guests to enjoy.
The Mine Shaft, a 30,000-square-foot facility, located at 915 Razorback Dr., Houghton, Mich., offers an 18-lane hybrid bowling center, a pro shop with the latest gear, and a full-scale restaurant. The outdoor entertainment options include a quarter-mile go-kart track, kiddie karts, an 18-hole miniature golf course and a BBQ patio with a large grille and bar.
The bowling center consists of 12 lanes of traditional bowling and six lanes in a unique boutique setting. The center is equipped with Brunswick Pro Lane®, Vector® scoring, GS-XTM pinsetters, Pinball Wizard® automatic bumper system, and custom Lanescape® masking units.
In addition, the boutique area features comfortable living room-style furniture and a high-end sound, light and video system. The boutique area is separated from the rest of the facility by a glass wall, making it an ideal space for group events, such as adult parties and corporate activities.
The Mine Shaft was named and themed in honor of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula’s copper mining history. The owner, Derek Bradway, took special care to carry the mining theme through out the facility. The Rock House Hardwood Grille features a replica of a mining hoist and the bar top is embedded with native copper, which glows a soft green hue when backlit by hundreds of LED lights. Warm earth tones and natural elements fill this one-of-a-kind bowling center.
When it came to getting the details of his bowling center just right, Bradway knew he could depend on the expertise of Brunswick. “I have been a Brunswick customer for decades,“ said Bradway. “After attending a Brunswick showcase and participating in conversations with Kurt Harz [vice president of capital sales – Americas], Hank Harris [vice president of design and construction] and Michael Postema [sales manager], it was a done deal. I knew Brunswick was the right partner to help build my new center.”
The arcade offers more than 60-player positions at video and redemption games. The highlight of the arcade is a roller coaster simulation ride.
