Bowler Makes State History with First 900 Series Bowled in Maryland
LAKE FOREST, Ill., Jan. 19, 2009 – Maryland bowling history was made on Monday, Dec. 22 when Rich Jerome, Jr., bowled three consecutive perfect games for the state’s first 900 series.
Jerome was bowling as a sub in the Monday night mixed league at Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes in Baltimore, Md., when he achieved this history-making score. “It’s still really unbelievable. It’s a big accomplishment. It will probably never happen again,” said Jerome.
Jerome, of Baltimore County, Md., started bowling with his parents at the age of 5, but didn’t get serious about the sport until he was well into his teens. Jerome has been a league bowler for more than 11 years. Prior to his 900 series, he had bowled fourteen 300 games, with a high series of 857, which was also bowled at Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes just last month.
More than seventy-nine USBC certified 300 games have been bowled at Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes since the start of the ’08-’09 season in August, the highest number in Brunswick’s chain of ninety-eight bowling centers. Brunswick Perry Hall Lanes also recently honored one of the longest running leagues in ABC/USBC history, The Drug Trade Men’s League, which has been in existence for 113 consecutive years. A total of 938 USBC certified perfect games have been bowled throughout the ninety-eight Brunswick locations since the start of the league season.
