Brunswick Launches Coin-op Virtual Bowling: Taps Pinnacle to Assist
MUSKEGON, Mich., April 25, 2007 – Brunswick Corporation announced that it has retained Pinnacle Entertainment Group, Inc., to assist Brunswick with the launch of the coin-op version of its Virtual Bowling attraction. “Pinnacle has produced a study of the family and location-based entertainment market for Brunswick, and will now assist us in bringing the product to that marketplace”, said Gary Smith, director of sales and marketing for Virtual Bowling. “Pinnacle is well established and respected in this segment of the market,” Smith continued, “and we want to leverage their experience to ensure that we present a product that produces for our customers.”
“Virtual Bowling is the first product with the look and feel of regulation bowling at a size and price point suitable for inclusion in family entertainment facilities,“ according to George McAuliffe, Pinnacle's president. “At roughly half the investment and length of full size bowling, it allows operators to introduce not just a new attraction, but a whole new venue under their roof.”
About Virtual Bowling
Virtual Bowling is Brunswick's latest innovation by combining the popularity of bowling with today's high-tech video and simulation games. Players roll a bowling ball (standard OR small ball!) down a short lane where sensors detect the speed and direction of the ball. The ball then enters the “virtual world,” where the reaction and impact of the ball with the pins - and other fun targets - is simulated accurately on the large video screen - complete with realistic sound.
Virtual Bowling will be shown at the National Restaurant Show in Chicago
May 19-22, and at Bowl Expo in Las Vegas June 27-28.
