Utilizing Recycled Plastics
To support durability, performance and recycled content in boat construction, traditional wood materials are being replaced with alternatives across our brands, including materials made from recycled plastic.
Lund Pursues Wood-Free Construction
Lund Boats has been working to remove wood components to support its long-standing reputation for durability with most models achieving this goal by the end of 2025. By replacing plywood with lightweight composite materials made in part from recycled plastic bottles, Lund reduced maintenance, improved fuel efficiency and repurposed approximately 3.7 million plastic bottles in 2025 production.
Utilizing Recycled Plastic Bottles
In 2020 Brunswick committed to transitioning from balsa wood to Gurit Kerdyn PET recycled foam as filler material across all fiberglass boats, a transition that has since been completed. Through the use of Kerdyn, Brunswick repurposed the equivalent of 4.5 million plastic water bottles in 2025 that would have otherwise gone to landfill.
Using Recycled and Recyclable Decking
In 2025, Thunder Jet began transitioning to wood-free decking by partnering with Supersede to adopt an engineered marine board that is fully waterproof and made from approximately 66% recycled plastic. This change eliminates about 100,000 pounds of treated lumber annually, reduces landfill waste and lowers maintenance costs while reinforcing Thunder Jet’s reputation for durability, performance and advanced construction.
