Brunswick Corporation : Brunswick Foundation Awards 70 Scholarships to Sons and Daughters of Company Employees
LAKE FOREST, Ill., May 31, 2012 - For the 55th consecutive year, the Brunswick
Foundation has awarded a total of 70 scholarships to sons and daughters of
Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) employees. Each will receive a single-year
scholarship of $2,500.
The winners span across 36 Brunswick locations worldwide, and represent the
Company's corporate staff as well as all Brunswick business units: Brunswick
Boat Group, Brunswick Bowling & Billiards, Life Fitness and Mercury Marine.
"We at Brunswick have a deep respect for the value of education, and an abiding
commitment to assisting the sons and daughters of our employees to achieve their
goals of securing a good education. Uninterrupted for 55 years, the Brunswick
Foundation has honored this commitment," said B. Russell Lockridge, vice
president and chief human resources officer for Brunswick and a Foundation
Director.
Scholarship recipients are selected by an independent committee comprised of
education professionals from Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., University
of Chicago Booth School of Business, University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind.
and Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis. Scholarships are awarded based on the
applicants' academic record and leadership abilities as demonstrated by
extracurricular activities. Financial need is an additional consideration, and
scholarships can only be used toward a baccalaureate degree.
The Brunswick Foundation has been awarding scholarships to the children of
Brunswick employees since its inception in 1957. In total, the Foundation has
awarded more than $10 million in scholarships during that time.
